This is just a rough estimate for gay bisnis in the big city of BKK. All figures rounded.

GoGo-bars: 12 or 13, except 2 all in the Silom area, half of that in soi Pratoochai(or HOtmail).

Other bars/pubs( the Thai is undecided how to name it):
with karaOK and off-boys: 5-6, all in Sapan Kwai
as a disco, no ''official'' off-boys: 10-15, a bit depending on how gay you want them to be. Except 2 (DJ and GOD) all OUT of Silom-area, with clusters in RamkamHaeng (LamSalee) and Chatuchak (or OTOKO or Kamphaeng Phet, that is all the same) and isolated ones in other areas.

gay sauna"s: around 40-50 with no real cluster, but notably fewer west of the main Chao Praya river. In all the mentioned gay areas there at least 2 nearby.

M2M massageshops: around 70-80, as the sauná also spread all over town untill the very far suburbs. PLus a dozen or so around Silom ''in disguise'' who may/can deliver more as a plain massage if you know how to proceed.

Estimate of nrs of ''offboys'' working:
in the gogo+karaOK-bars up to 1000, in the M2M shops a little more from 1000-1200. But many overlaps, fluctuations etc. Some sauna's also offer massage, some disco's have rental boys , or those who seize the occasion. Some boys may work in more as 1 place. And this does not include the street-alkers or those who work via GayROmeo or www-sites.

Listing sites: NO site is really comprehensive, all show places that may or have closed down or changed name. Still, with all these caveats:
IMHO the former best one was thailandscene.com, but this has vanished, it now links you into the dragoncastle.com site, who answered me and now states they do not intend to list all places. Dreadedned.com is not updated since years. Those linked to this and the other well-known gay forum-sites mainly restrict to the Silom-tourist zone and are even then not comprehensive. Utopia-asia is hit and miss, but more misses (seems to cater more to Asians on tour).
There are special sites for the M2M-massage: many are paid advertising, but some are very good in that: thaimassageboy.com, gaymassagegay.com, menmassagethai.com. The best knwon is likely the shamelessmack.wordpress blog, but this describes his visits and does not do listings of all places.
For more uptodate info you have to go Thai: but alas, many of these sites come up and vanish at high-speed rate. Most are linked into those free giveaway ads-mags. Nonetheless
they have very informative forums by Thai (find a friend to translate): g-thai.net, tmm-society.com (find the lists all down-in english- and click on them for links), menmenu.net.
Anyone got additions of other views to this?

Dear Pong,

Keeping listings up to date is a real nightmare.

Venues are opening and closing all the time and while it is not surprising that businesses who close make no notification of the fact, it is surprising that new businesses are not more keen to announce their presence- it seems that many, especially Thais are not convinced that they benefit from publicity.

You could try the maps and listings on www.out-in-thailand.com but you will have to register ;)

Best wishes,

James.
